Spotted Hyena

Hyenas mainly hunt at night. The menu? Zebras and various sorts of antelope. Sometimes they eat animals that are already dead. Often they hunt in groups, sometimes alone. Then they can catch a prey of up to 150 kilos. But the hyena also sometimes takes prey that has been caught by other predators.

No Leftovers

The hyena, always eats everything on its 'plate'. With its strong jaws, it can even crush bones to eat them. The only thing it leaves are hooves and horns. The hyena only needs one and a half kilos of meat a day. But, it can eat fourteen kilos of meat in one meal. After such an enormous meal it doesn't need to hunt for a whole day. When it hunts it makes a 'laughing' noise. Which gave it a bad reputation. Because people used to think that hyenas killed their prey for fun.
